SUMMARY In microfluidic systems, fluid mixing is an important step but becomes more difficult due to the laminar nature of most micro flows. In this paper, various techniques to enhance fluid micromixing and their applications for biological and chemical processing are introduced. , and the microreactor technology may bring revolutionary changes to the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

Surface modification of implantable metals through the surface apatite formation via biomimetic processes appears to be a good approach for improving the use of these metals in the medical field. The biomimetic processes take place at human body temperature and do not require harsh reaction conditions, high (or low) pressure, or high temperature, which avoids major disadvantages of other surface apatiteforming techniques such as hydrothermal-electrochemical deposition, plasma spraying and ion beam assisted deposition.
